George Washington Hawkins, 93, of Chico died Saturday, November 28 in Bridgeport Hospital.
Services were Monday at the First Baptist Church in Chico. The Reverends A.D. Kyle and A.A. Farley officiated with burial in Thomas Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gary Burrows, Gary and Jimmy Green, Grady Cuplin and R.L. and Larry Groves. Honorary pallbearers were Clarence Phillips and Harvey Weatherly.
Hawkins, born Sept. 30, 1886 in Wise County, was the widower of Lillie Green. They were married in 1914 in Bridgeport.
Survivors include: daughters Beatrice Brooks of Chico and Berniece Stevens of Duncan, Okla.; brother Earl Hawkins of Chico; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
