Alma K. Martin, the daughter of Robert and Rosella
Mumford, died at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des
Moines, Iowa at the age of 88 years, 5 months, and 12 days.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith.
Her parents died when she was quite young and her grand-
mother and aunt helped raise her in Indiana. Alma attended
school in Indiana and then moved to California where she was
employed as a nurse's aide.

On July 14, 1931 she was united in marriage to Cecil G.
Martin in California, During World War II she moved to
Cheyenne, Wyoming, where she worked in a munitions plant,
then returned to California when Cecil was discharged from
the service. They lived in California until they retired and
moved to Exira, Iowa. Cecil died June 3, 1981 and she main-
tained her own home until she became a resident of the
Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa. She attended Holy Trin-
ity Catholic Church in Exira.

Preceding her in death in addition to her husband were
her parents and two brothers: William Mumford and Robert
Mumford.

Survivors include her nephew, Lyn Mumford of Portland,
Oregon; her niece, Arlene Johnson of Nevada; her sister-in-
law and her husband, Beth and Harold L. Akers; her brother-
in-law, Kermit Martin, all of Exira, Iowa; many nieces, neph-
ews, other relatives and friends.
