Edwin Michael Decker, Burlington, Kan., died July 25, 2005, at Coffey County Hospital in Burlington. He was 44.

He was born Aug. 31, 1960, at Wichita, the son of Justin Paul and Dorothy Leann Welsh Decker. He moved with his family from Wichita to Burlington when he was 10 years old. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1978.

He worked as a truck driver for Clarkson Construction during the construction of Coffey County Lake. He worked at various other jobs besides truck driving; among these were farming, harvesting and welding.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sally Ann Decker.

Survivors include his dog and companion, Abby; two brothers, Martin Decker and his wife Barbara, Marion, Ill., and William Decker and his wife Judy, Emporia; four sisters,
Paula Saueressig and her husband Kirk, Burlington, Melea Decker, Lumberton, N.C., Evelyn Paulie and her husband Jason, Greenbrier, Ark., and Monica Farthing and her husband Mark, Burlington; many nieces and nephews; an uncle, John Decker and his wife Delores, Burlington; and an aunt, Margaret Towry, Burlington.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at the city dam in Drake Park, Burlington. He was cremated.

Memorial contributions may be made to Eddie Decker Memorial Fund to be used for a bench at Drake Park.
