Gerald W. "Bub" Scott, 69, of Barrackville, passed from this life Thursday (Jan. 1, 2009) at Ruby Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born in Montrose on May 23, 1939, a son of the late Mason and Anna Lee Biller Scott. Bub retired as a construction worker for the Penn Line with more than 40 years of service. He was a member of United Mine Workers of America District 31. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, working on cars and playing with his canine buddies Princess and Annie. In addition to Princess and Annie, Mr. Scott is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Terry Scott Sr. and Patricia "Sis" of Barrackville; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Patricia Louise and Larry Baker of Mannington, Judith Ann and Allen Gump of Mannington, Becky Scott and Anna Laverne Scott, both of Mannington; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jackson and JoAnn Scott and Joseph "Busie" and Donita Scott, all of Fairmont; two sisters, Donna McCoy Eisentrout of Fairview and Ruth Warnick and her husband Robert of Baltimore, Md.; 13 grandchildren, including Amanda (Travis) Knowles, Samantha (Kevin) Hepner and Terry "T.J." Scott Jr.; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Betty and Bud Simms, Nadine and Danny Copen and Bill Eisentrout. Friends may call at the Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel), 320 Madison St., Fairmont, from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday. Services will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Monday with his close friend, the Rev. Dale Tobin, officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
