Justin Paul Decker, 70, Burlington, died Dec. 28, 1998 at Coffey County Hospital.

He was born Feb. 5, 1928, at Burlington, the son of Louie Martin and Pauline Bertha Jauernig Decker.

Mr. Decker served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and after his discharge returned to Burlington and worked with his brother, Louis, as a carpenter. He then moved to Wichita, where he worked for Boeing Aircraft and Lear Jet. In 1970 he returned to Burlington and operated Gulf Service Station and Bulk Service until 1974 when he went to work for the State of Kansas Highway Department. He retired in 1988.

He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Burlington. He was also a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.

On April 20, 1953, he was married to Leann Welsh at Burlington. She survives.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sally Ann Decker; two sisters, Margaret Peters and Marie Salsbury, and a brother, Louis Decker.

He is survived by four daughters, Paula Saueressig, Burlington, Melea Decker, Lumberton, NC., Evelyn Paulie, Conway, Ark., and Monica Boyce, Burlington; three sons, Martin Decker, Holt, Mich., Bill Decker, Emporia, Ed Decker, Burlington; thirteen grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; a sister, Clara Bruha, Salina, and a brother, John Decker, Burlington.
