Funeral services for Josephine Gertrude Decker were held on Tuesday, July 29, 1969, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic church in Burlington. Fr. Lawrence Kelley officiated with a Requiem Mass at 10 a.m. Casketbearers were Lester Decker, Leo Decker, Virgil Decker, Loren Skillman, Elvin Decker and Homer Mays. Burial was in Calvary cemetery beside her parents.

Josie was born October 25, 1882 at Indiana, the fourth child of 14 children of Martin and Barbara Wise Decker, and died July 25, 1969 in the Coffey county hospital where she had been for a month. She was 86 years old.

She came to Kansas with her parents when she was a year old and they lived on a farm southeast of Hartford. She attended the Indian Hill school and later the family moved to a farm at LeRoy.

Josie never married but stayed at home to help her parents. Josie has lived in Burlington since 1912 when her parents moved from their farm at LeRoy, to their home near the old mill in Burlington.

Survivors are Thomas Decker of the home, Frank and Jake of Burlington, Mrs. Mary Shull, Montclair, Ca.; Mrs. Flora Riebel, Humboldt; Mrs. Emma Gorman, Twin Falls, Id., and Mrs. Susie Kruger of Burlington and many other relatives and friends.
