The funeral of Mrs. Geo. B. Decker was held Wednesday morning at the Catholic church in Burlington, requiem high mass being sung by Rev. Father Pottgiesser, with appropriate music by the choir. The large church was filled with sympathizing relatives and friends. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery west of Burlington, the pall bearers being John A. Weigand, Ed Weigand, L. M. Decker, M. T. Decker, Lewis Cronin and George Wagner. There were many beautiful floral offerings.
Lyda E. Weigand, daughter of F. L. and Mary Weigand, was born at the Weigand homestead 3 1/2 miles southwest of Burlington May 29, 1883. She was married to Geo. B. Decker of Burlington February 23, 1916. There were no children. Mrs. Decker had not been in very good health for some time, but was up and around as usual and attended church Sunday morning. Sunday night she took suddenly very ill and died at 1:30 Monday morning, November 23, 1925, death coming practically without warning. Mrs. Decker was very highly esteemed by those who knew her and especially by those who knew her well.
The out of town relatives here for the funeral were: Mrs. B. E. Connally and daughter Waltrude of Dallas, Texas; J. W. Cushman and children Wilma, William and Patronila, of Parsons; Mrs. Francis Weigand and daughter Barbara of Emporia; Mrs. W. J. Wagner and son William; Ed and Manual Decker and Edna Hagel of Kansas City; John A. Weigand and Ed Weigand of Wichita; Joe Grennan of Garnett; Mr. and Mrs. G. Decker, Carl, Wilhelmina and Gertrude Decker and Mrs. Eva Carolan, of Hartford.
