He has a CSA pension application, which can be found online at the GA archives virtual vault. He states, in his own words, that his DOB is 1836 in S.C.; he enlisted May 1, 1862 in Co. C of 2nd GA, then was in the 26th GA. He later joined the 4th GA Cav.; was in Clinch's Battery of Light Artillery and was promoted to Lt. Thomas was captured 13 Aug 1864 and was a POW until the surrender.
He was a farmer as well as a minister, and had no land (at the time of his application). He drew a $60 pension.
