He was born in Berkley, Kentucky the son of the late Clyde and Eva Walker Brock. He grew up in Finger and graduated Bethel Springs High School in 1941. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1942 and served an enlistment overseas until 1945. He reenlisted later in 1945 and served through the Korean War for a total of 21 years.

He was married to Gerald Melton in 1945 and they lived in various places while he served in the Air Force. He went to work for the Post Office in Washington D.C. in 1966 and transferred to the Knoxville Post Office until he retired in 1985. He was married to Junell Plunk Redmon in 1985 and they made their home near Finger since that time.
He was a member of the Maggie Jones United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife Junell Plunk Redmon Brock of Finger; two sons Larry Brock of Maynardville, TN and Ron Brock and wife Vicki of Knoxville, TN; four step children Dennis Redmon of Finger, Barry Redmon, Revonda Ryan and Charlotte Campbell all of Memphis; a sister Fauntella Cook of Finger; three grandchildren and ten step grandchildren; five great grandchildren and eleven step great grandchildren.
