HAZLEHURST, Nov. 9-C. O. Mc-Kinnell, 77, one of Copiah county's oldest and most beloved citizens, passed away here at 3:30 yesterday morning after a prolonged illness.
Mr. McKinnell for. the past five months had been in very poor health, necessitating a nurse's care
For a long period of years Mr. McKinnell was actively engaged in the public life of this community, serving for a while as county assessor and following this with a long tenure of office as city clerk. His circle of friends was a large one and to all these he was a steadfast and loyal friend.
He was born at Monticello, Miss., January 6, 1856, and married Miss Nina Catching April 12, 1883. After being in business at Rockport for a short while Mr. McKinnell moved to Hazlehurst where he spent the rest of his life.
The sole surviving member of Mr. McKinnell's family is one sister, Mrs. Mollie Catching, of this city.
Funeral services were held at the Hazlehurst Methodist church with Reverend W. O. Sadler officiating. Interment was held, in the Hazlehurst cemetery.
