Louis W. Boynton was born as the son of C.L. and Irene Boynton and grew up in Quanah, TX along with his best friends, Malcolm Bottoms and Bud Conley, and a brother, Bob, and a sister, Marquitta.

He graduated from Quanah High School where he was an outstanding athlete and upon graduation attended college at Texas Tech on a football scholarship. A knee injury required him to miss a year of school and after recovery he then attended Ranger Junior College where he was on the football and track teams. He then transfered to Midwestern Univestiy in Wichita Falls, TX where he was a member of the Indian Football team graduating in 1952.

Louis entered the coaching profession following graduation from Midwestern and served the state of Texas in that capacity for the next 40 years. He started his career as an assistant coach to Marshall Gearheart in Seymour, TX. Then in 1957 he became the head coach of the Wheeler Mustangs where he coached for five searsons. In 1962 he became High School Principal and head football and track coach for the Lockett Panthers. While there, he produced two state championship track teams in 1967 and 1968 amassing state records that stood for 25 years.

Louis held the position of assistant principal at the Vernon Intermediate School from 1969-1970 and became the head track coach and assistant principal for the Vernon Lions in 1971, a position he held till 1983 when he retired from coaching and became the principal at McCord Elementry School where he served until his retirement in 1993.

Louis was an avid outdoor sportsman. He and his father were great hunters and fishermen and also enjoyed shooting trap.

Louis married Dorothy Vickrey in 1955 and they had a daughter, Tanya Kym with husband Anton John Sosolik, Jr. and grandson Seth Sosolik with wife, Anna, and great grandson Leo.
