Kephart Morgan, 97 (age should be 94), 527 East 7th died early Tuesday at Hutchinson Hospital after a short illness. Born November 8, 1879, in Strang, NB., ( Kephart was not listed on the 1880 US Federal Census so could not have been born in 1879. The Social Security Death Index states he was born in 1882. The marriage record of his marriage to his first wife, Editha, is dated Oct. 4, 1905 and gives his age as 23. That would also indicate he was born in 1882.) He married Editha Dalton Bash on Oct. 4, 1905. They were the parents of 4 children, Gladys, Paul, Maude Amy & Editha Mae. Editha died following the birth of twins in 1918. he married Alice Fisher June 1, 1921, in Guthrie County, Iowa. He was a retired farmer and moved to Hutchinson in 1963.
He was a member of the Grace Wesleyan Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Editha who died following the birth of twins in 1918; their twin daughters, Maude Amy who died at birth and Editha May who died 1 month and 13 days later and Gladys who died in 1957.
Survivors are the widow; sons, Rev. Lester Morgan, 1000 East 20th, Melvin, RFD 5, and Paul, Bouton, Ia., step-daughter, Bernice Johnson of Colorado Spring; twelve grandchidlren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10:30 Thursday morning at the church. Rev. Lester Tasker officated. Burial was Friday in Earlham, Ia.
