Mary Jane McAlister 83, Greenwood, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 12, 2009 at Community Hospital South. Mary was born November 4, 1925 in Kokomo, Indiana. She was married to Frank C. McAlister for 65 years after being high school sweethearts for 5 years. Mrs. McAlister was a resident of Greenwood Village South where she enjoyed art, euchre, bingo, and shuffleboard. She was a DAR, Beta Sigma Phi and "PHT". A graduate of University Beauty College and a beautician for 15 years. She was a ribbon winning oil painting artist and winemaker. Mary and Frank were avid travelers and enjoyed trips to Ireland, Alaska, Germany, Switzerland, and South America. When they were not traveling, you could find them at Indiana University football and basketball games. Survivors include her loving husband, Frank; son, Mark of Bloomington and Hilton Head, NC; daughter, Susan of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Daniel, Leith, Brand, and James; and a great-grandson, Jax. Services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 15 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St. with visitation there from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
