Jacob was the son of Frederick Liddick and Elizabeth Louden. He was was a blacksmith living in Watts Township, Perry County, Pennsylvania. He married Sarah C. Krick and fathered Frazier Ida Mary (b./d. 1861) Frazier (b. 12/18/63, d. 05/07/71), Alice May (b. 11/17/65 - married a Kirk), Catharine B. (b. 04/04/67 - married Samuel Bare), Sarah Jane (b. 09/26/70 - married William A. Reese), and Anna Elizabeth "Lizzie" (b. 01/31/72 - married E. W. Finfrock). Sarah died in 1891, and he married Sarah A. lnu.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Perry County August 5, 1862, mustered into federal service at Harrisburg August 11 as a private with Co. G, 133rd Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company May 26, 1863. He also enlisted and mustered into federal service at Harrisburg August 31, 1864, as a blacksmith with Co. D, 9th Pennsylvania Cavalry (92nd Pa), and honorably discharged per general order May 29, 1865. He stood 6' 2" tall and had dark hair and blue eyes.

Per his obituary, he died at his daughter Lizzie's home.
