Andrew W. Jackson was the eldest of the six children born to Joseph H. and Alida "Olive" (WEATHERWAX) Jackson. He was the second husband of Susan W. EBERHARD Smith. They were the parents of one known daughter, Olive Luella "Lu" Jackson (1868-1949, married William Rosencranz "Crance" CLENDENIN twice and then Sylvester N. NICHOLS).

Andrew served as a Private in Co. A of the 14th Michigan Volunteer Infantry in the Civil War.

Andrew's siblings were Elizabeth Catherine Jackson (1831-1880, married John Reuben PERKINS, one daughter), Mary J. Jackson (1834-?), William Wallace Jackson (1836-1836), Sarah Ann Jackson (1845-1915, second wife of Paris S. LEMUNYON, six children) and Phebe Ann (known as Anna or Annie) Jackson (1849-1880, married George L. BEIDLER, six children).
