DEATH NOTICE: The Manti Messenger, Friday 4 January 1895:
Soren Christoffer Hansen an old resident of Manti, died at his home last Saturday. He was troubled with Bright's disease for several years, from the effects of which he died. The funeral ceremonies took place at the Tabernacle Monday. An account of his life is furnished by a correspondent, and will be found in this issue.

Obituary Notice
The following has been furnished to MESSENGER for publication. After giving directions as to how he should be buried and who should direct the funeral services the deceased requested that this paper be read.
Soren Christoffer Hansen was born in Denmark, March 5, 1819. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, in his native country, in 1851. He at once became an active member and was made president over one branch of the church, while helped to organize two others.
In 1855 he emigrated from Denmark leaving mother, wife and three children for the gospels sake, and also real estate and personal property to the value of some 20-000 Danish dollars. Having disposed of this, he paid 600 Danish dollars in tithing, 100 dollars Temple donation and 100 dollars to the perpetual emigration fund. He also helped to emigrate twenty one Scandinavian saints.
Our deceased brother has performed three missions to Denmark. The first one was commenced in 1860, during which time he presided over two conferences. When he returned in 1862, he led a company of ??7 saints to Zion. One his second mission he started in 1871 and on his third, in 1885. During these two missions he labored in the conference of Copenhagen. It is computed that he has traveled in all about 15,000 miles.
Our deceased brother has had 12 children, 9 now living, 3 adopted children and 35 grandchildren.
