JAMES LENNIS BROOKS, known as "Jimmy," 84, of Duncan, Okla., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, in Lawton, Okla.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Eastside Church of Christ. Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Comanche, under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
He was born Nov. 16, 1924, in Corum, to William Alfred and Bertha Ross Houtchens Brooks. He married Keela LaVerne Jones on Aug. 5, 1947, in Comanche. She preceded him in death on June 3, 2008.
James was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He was a hospital administrator for Lindley Hospital, then for Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.
Jimmy was past treasurer of the Duncan Kiwanis Club, and past president of the Altus Kiwanis Club, and served as past chairman for Jackson County Red Cross.
He greatly enjoyed singing with the barber-shop quartets and chorus.
He was an active member of Eastside Church of Christ.
Survivors include three children, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; six sisters; three brothers; and a son.
Pallbearers will be Garrett Nelson, Brian Brooks, Jon Brooks, Justin Reeder, Elmer Hewitt and Ron O'Brien.
Honorary bearers are J.W. Bradley and Glen Mullens.
