Harrisburg--James Washington Taylor, well known 100-year-old resident of Harrisburg, died Thursday morning in Cabarrus Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Harrisburg Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Charles M. Efird officiating.

Interment will be in Rocky River Presbyterian Church cemetery, with graveside rites conducted by Stokes Lodge A. F. and A. M.

The body will remain at Lefler Funeral Home, Albemarle, until taken to lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral.

Mr. Taylor was a native of Cabarrus County, born in 1863, the son of Hugh Barnett Taylor Rosanna Jane Teeter Taylor. He was a retired Harrisburg mail carrier, and his wife, the former Mary Ann McCachren, died in 1937.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ola Query and Mrs. Tom Carriker of Harrisburg and Mrs. Annie Carriker of Concord; three sons, James Taylor of Albemarle, Ira Taylor of Gastonia, and John Taylor of Charlotte; 20 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild
