RUTH ELLA PARKISON

Passed away after living a full and loving life. Born in Joplin, Missouri, she moved to Santa Monica, California, in 1943 during the last days of WWII. She worked at Douglas Aircraft then Systems Development Corp for almost 25 years. She did volunteer work at Trinity Baptist Church of Santa Monica, was active in Santa Monica College Patrons, and National Association of Letter Carriers' auxiliary in Santa Monica and held offices, including President, for many years. Her hobbies were gardening, reading, traveling and volunteer work. She loved family and church. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Russell. She is survived by her loving family: son, Russell Alan Parkison; daughter, Ernestine Peirce; daughter-in-law, Tina; son-in-law, Wayne; grandsons, James and Snezana Konecni Peirce and Michael and Lynne Peirce; and five great grandchildren, Erika, Zachary, Petra, Kyle and Bianka Peirce. Ruth's love, strength, and beautiful gardens will be deeply missed by her family and many loving friends.
Services 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 9, 2009, at The Little Chapel of the Dawn, 1925 Arizona Ave., Santa Monica.
