Willie M. White, 82, a retired farmer of Route 1, Gassville, died last Saturday at a local hospital. He was a lifetime resident of Baxter County and made his home in the Pilgrim's Rest community, west of here.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 pm Tuesday at the Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church with Bro. Joe Skaggs of Mountain Home officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery under the direction of the McClure Service.
Pallbearers were Harvey Smith, Rex Reed, Opal Smith, Don Alman, Laurel Reed, and Lee Lewis.
Mr. White was born in Baxter County on August 23, 1884, the son of Willis (Will) White and Eliza Mooney White, pioneer citizens of the area. He was married to the former Myrtle Coy and was a member of the Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Myrtle White, and a son, Ed White, both of Route 1, Gassville; three brothers, Claude White of Birchtree, Mo., Ted White of Texas, and Lawrence White of Colorado; five sisters, Mrs. Myrt Giles, Mrs. Willie Rex, Mrs. Iva White, and Mrs. Ada Renzleman, all of Texas and Mrs. Emma Samons of Colorado, 20 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
