PFC Alfred Fry killed in action in WWII in Germany. Co A 13th Inf, buried in Bruena Germany (Died April 8, 1945); later moved to Holland, then to Exline Cemetery, Iowa. Alfred's grave had a family that took care of his grave until he was sent back to Iowa.(Alfred's body was return to Exline, Iowa November 1948) The family in Holland wrote the Fry family when he was moved from cemetery in Germany to Holland. They took care of his grave until his dad had him brought back to be placed in Exline Cemetery by his mother. The family sent the family in Hollad care packages. The family was very appreciative of their care of Alfred.

The body of Private Alfred Fry, who lost his life in the service of his county April 8, 1945 arrives Friday noon 12:27 via the Rock Island railroad and funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Johnson Funeral Home. Private Fry was 19 years, three months and 22 days of age at the time of his death. He was born near Exline Dec 16, 1925, the son of Glen and Nevada Fry. He graduated from the Centerville High School with the class of 1944. He was a member of the Methodist Church and was active in the choir and young peoples groups. His mother preceded him in death July 16, 1936. He is survived by his father and step mother, Glenn and Minnie Fry of Rural Route No 1, Centerville and by four sisters and one brother as follows: Mrs. Walter Daniel of Rural Route No 1; Mrs. Clyde Banks of the same route, Mrs. Donald House of Moulton, Mrs. Alfreda Wolver of Moravia and Wilbur Fry of Centerville.
Burial will be made in the Exline Cemetary with the Ray C. Walden post of the American Legion in charge of military services and the Rev. Lester Greenwood will give the funeral sermon.
