She graduated from What Cheer High School in 1929. She was married to Frank Clucas in January 1944. Frank passed away in 1952. She worked for Teletype Corporation in Chicago (now Lucent Technologies) and retired in 1976. Mabel moved to Des Moines in 1998. She enjoyed life, people, always had a smile on her face and was quick with her witty humor. She was always very positive and at peace with life even while she was battling cancer over the last several years. Mabel (Beever) Clucas, age 97, passed away on Tuesday; December 23, 2008 at the Chariton Nursing and Rehab Center in Chariton; Lucas County, Iowa. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her sister: Millie Irving of Chariton, Iowa. Many nieces, nephews and relatives in Chicago; Cook County, Illinois. Also her step grandchildren: Tom, Bill, Dick, and Danny Clucas. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; step sons: Jerry and Frankie; step grandson Jim; a baby brother; and sisters: Cora Blaylock, Hazel Courtney, and Blanche Telin. May they rest in peace. Memorial services for Mabel will be held at a later date at the Sorden Cemetery in Keokuk County, Iowa.
