She is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 38 years, Bill, and sister Tommie Whitley.
Martha is survived by her son Thomas Allen Chessher and wife Kaye, daughter Molly Sexton and husband Bryan, grandchildren Joshua Chessher and wife Sarah, Taylor Chessher, Bryan Sexton, Jr., Brandon Sexton, and Shelby Sexton, great-grandchildren Lilly, Maddie, and Zoey, siblings Frances Bennett, John Luther Cleveland and wife Daisy, Ima R. McGinty and husband Francis, and sisters-in-law Annis Eastepp, and Cindy Bishop and husband Rick. Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.
Martha was a long-time member of Country Campus Baptist Church. She loved to travel (most notably to Branson, MO) , and especially in the spring when her favorite wildflowers were in full bloom along the highways. She was admired for her talents in the kitchen and was known for her chicken and dumplings, pineapple upside-down cake, and carrot cake. While she had many hobbies and interests, nothing gave her more pleasure than spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by those she leaves behind to cherish her memory and protect her legacy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carlisle Cemetery Association.
