William A. Shaw, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2005.

Surviving are his sister, Francis Willits of Ionia; daughter, Mrs. James (Irene) Johnson of Ionia; daughter-in-law, Erica Shaw of Barstow, CA., grandsons; James D, Johnson of Anchorage, AL. and William E. Jonhson of Bath, MI; granddaughter, Mrs. Kathleen Vinatiere of Sevierville, TN; 4 great grandsons; 1 great granddaughter; many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Funeral services willl be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2005 at First United Methodist Church, Ionia.

Interment will follow at Balcom Cemetery, Ionia.

Arrangments by Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich street, Ionia.

In Lieu of folowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ionia County Memorial Hospital, First United Methodist Church or Ionia Area Hospice, in memory of Mr. William A. Shaw.

William Augst Shaw, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at his apartment at Valley View under Hospice care surrounded by his family.

He was born August 29, 1916 in Odessa Twp., the son of J. Glenn and Mary A.(Augst) Shaw.

Mr. Shaw graduated from Lake Odessa High School in 1934, and hisoccupations included farming, truck driving and maintenance engineer at IoniaCounty Memorial Hospital, from which he retired in 1981. William was a Life Member of the American Society for Hospital Engineering, and a Life Member of the Michigan Hospital Association, where he was President in 1978. William was also on the State Board of Hospital Codes, was a member of the Ionia First United Methodist Church, co-founder of the Ionia Commission on Aging's Euchre Club, a member of the Belding Euchre Club and of the Sheridan Euchre Club. He traveled throughout the United States and Canada, and enjoyed many people andtheir friendships. William was also an ardent fan of the Detroit Tigers from childhood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred, who he married on January 4, 1941; son, Sergeant/Major Glenn E. Shaw; three brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are his sister, Francis Willets of Ionia; daughter, Mrs. James (Irene) Johnson of Ionia; daughter-in-law, Erica Shaw of Barstow, Cal.; grandsons, James D. Johnson of Anchorage, Alaska, and William E. Johnson of Bath; granddaughter Mrs. Kathleen Vinatiere of Sevierville, Tenn.; four great grandsons, 1 great granddaughter; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Funeral Service will be conducted by the Rev. Martin Culver, Pastor at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church, Ionia. Interment will follow at Balcom Cemetery, Ionia. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich Street, Ionia, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be madeto Ionia County Memorial Hospital, First United Methodist Church or Ionia Area Hospice, in memory of Mr. William A. Shaw.
