Mary Ann (Knudson) Olson, age 68, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2004, at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mary Ann was born on July 11, 1935, in Wigdahl, Minnesota, to parents Ruth and Ole C. Knudson.

A Memorial Service was held at the First Lutheran Church of Alexandria on February 16 with Reverend John Peshek and Reverend Giles Ekola officiating. Burial was in the Kinkead Sunset Cemetery in Alexandria. Music was provided by Robin Backlund and Cog and Bob Anderson and the organist was Diane Alveshere.

Mary Ann received her first schooling in Corral. The family then moved to Nelson and she continued her education first in a country school and then at Nelson Elementary School to the eighth grade.

In her early years she worked at Osterberg's Cafe and also at Andy's Interlachen Inn. Later Mary worked at the Douglas County Hospital for several years as a dietary aide.

Mary was united in marriage to Burdette Lyle Olson on June 30, 1958. To this union four children were born: Tamara Kay, Timothy Ray, Damon Troy and Richard Todd.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her father: Ole C. Knudson; brothers: Clarence and Clayton Knudson; and son: Damon Troy.

Mary was a devoted, loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed life to the fullest. Her proudest accomplishments are her children and family. Mary's hobbies were going to baseball games, needlepoint, crossword puzzles and cooking and baking for family and friends. She enjoyed her home and planting flowers in the yard. Her greatest hobby/activity was taking her children to the Viking Speedway every Saturday night to see the stock car races for more than 35 years.

Her optimistic spirit, her bright smile and her abundant laughter will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Blessed be her memory.
