Brother of Catherine (Coover) Watson, Ethel (Coover) Oatman Norris, Emma (Coover) Murphy Miller, Enos Willard Coover, Harry Wesley Coover, Edwin Guy Coover, William Lewis Coover & James Thaddeus Coover. He was born Hiram J. Coover. He was husband of Essie (Jones) Coover Taylor, and later, Mabel (Rowe) Jones. Father of Charles Edward Coover. After some ugly family disputes, he left and changed his name to Howard Jones. He then became husband of Laura B. (Moore) Jones. Father of William H. Jones, Pearl L. (Jones) Artis, & Jack G. Jones and step-father of Harold R. Bable & Arthur W. Bable.
