Peter J. Argyros, age 80, a resident of Clinton Township, Michigan died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, Clinton Twp. He was born on October 25, 1922 on the island of Andros, Greece.
On February 24, 1952 in Detroit, MI he was united in marriage to the former Katina Raptis. Together they shared 56 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on January 3, 2008.
Mr. Argyros owned and operated several restaurants; most notably the Clinton BBQ - for over 30 years until his retirement in 1989. He was an active member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church where he belonged to AHEPA and the senior club. His family enjoyed traveling with Despina as a young girl and together they enjoyed socializing with their family and friends.
He will be remembered as the "family photographer" capturing and editing many of the family's precious memories.
He is survived by his daughter Despina Argyros of Clinton Twp., brother Anthony and sisters Eleftheria and Marika all of Greece, brother-in-law Nick (Rose) Raptis, and sister-in-laws; Electra (John) Pappas, Sarah Raptis, and June Raptis.
He was predeceased by his wife Katina, parents John and Areti Argyros, and brother Thanasis Argyros.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 12, 2009 at 10:00a.m. (instate 9:30a.m.) at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 760 West Wattles Rd., Troy, MI. Visitation will be in the Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, 140 South Main Street, Mount Clemens on Saturday, January 10th, 2009 from 2:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. and on Sunday, January 11th, 2009 from 1:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. with a Trisagion prayer service at 6:00p.m.
Burial will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens Cemetery East, Clinton Twp.
