June 1966 The Lawton Constitution -
George W. Roach - WALTERS (Special) - Service for George Washington Roach, 71, of Rt. 3, Walters, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Letitia Baptist Church.
Rev. Joe Carmen, pastor of the church will officiate., assisted by Rev. Dan Maloch, pastor of Duncan Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Letitita Cemetery under direction of Dalton- Ritter Funeral Home.
Mr. Roach died about 8:30 a.m. Thursday following an apparent heart attack at his home.
He was born May 22, 1895, in Carnish, Okla., and came to Lawton in 1911. He was married to Nancy Elizabeth Miller in Lawton Sept. 19, 1915.
Mr. Roach was a member of Letitia Baptist Church. He had been a farmer and stockman 46 years.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Bessie Cothren, Temple; Mrs. Lois Ray, Lawton; Mrs. Elsie Pollard, Fox, Okla.; Mrs. Alice Anderson, Duncan, and Mrs. Lenora Dowlen, Temple;
Five sons, Edward of Comanche; Alonzo of Geronimo; Charlie of Duncan, Jack of Wilmington, Mass., and John of Elgin; a sister; Mrs. Lola Harrison, Fort Sumner, N. M.;
Two half-sisters, Mrs. Nellie Apple, Sa Antonio, and Mrs. Sadie Harris, Marlow; stepmother, Mrs. Bessie Roach, Shamrock, Tex.; a step-brother, three step-sisters, 26 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
