"Paul "Ed" Blake, 83, lifelong resident of the Woodrow and Lindon communities, died Tuesday at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush.
Blake was born Aug. 16, 1922, in Woodrow to John and Janet Blake. He entered the U.S. Army Sept. 7, 1943, and served in the European Theater. He was awarded the American Service Medal, the European Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, a Purple Heart for injuries suffered and the World War II Victory Medal. He was discharged December 2, 1945.
He married Maxine Amsberry September 27, 1947, in Wray. The Blake family continued to ranch and farm near Lindon. He attended the Gary Nazarene Church. He enjoyed reading, especially reading his Bible, fishing and spending time with this grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine of Lindon; two children, Rick Blake of Lindon and Diana Sulya of Naples, Florida.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Edward Paul; two sisters, Grace Mock and Jane Morey; five brothers, Andrew, Oscar, Jim, Dean and Glen, and his parents.
Visitation will be held at the Heer Mortuary in Brush Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Brush United Methodist Church, 1701 Edmunds St. Military graveside services by VFW No. 3551 will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center."
