Billie Stitt, 87, of Shawnee, KS, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2009. Funeral services will be held Saturday January 10, 2009 at 12 noon with visitation from 11-12 noon at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel; burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. The family suggests contributions to be made to either Johnson County Public Library or the Lenexa Community Center Senior Programs.

Billie was born in Kansas City, MO, on July 3, 1921. She married Harold Stitt in 1941. She retired from the Johnson County Department of Motor Vehicles in June of 1983. Billie was an avid reader and spirited card player who delighted in playing cards with her friends at the Lenexa Community Center and checking out books from the public library. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband Harold Stitt and son-in-law, Gary Keltner. She is survived by her daughters, Diane Keltner and Kathy Miller; son-in-law, Les Miller; her grandson, Jeff Keltner and his wife, Jaime Keltner; and great grandson, Nathan Keltner.

She is deeply loved and admired for her tenacity for life, generosity to friends and family, her open heart and mind, and great sense of humor.
