Mary Ann Buford was born in Reynolds County, Missouri 24 Jun 1829. Sometime before 1850 she married George Washington Robinson; they had 3 children: John [1846-1900], Elisabeth [1847-1944 wife of Henderson Chitwood] and Lucy [1851-1910, wife of Richard John Melton]. It is unknown what happened to George W Robinson; no record can be found of him after the 1850 Reynolds County MO census. Lucy was born 18 Jul 1851 so her father must have "vanished" after Nov 1850. Mary Ann is enumerated on the 1860 census for Reynolds County, MO as the wife of Daniel Horney [sic Harney]. Enumerated with the couple are the 3 Robinson children and their daughter Sarah Horney, [ b 13 Apr 1860 -1899, wife of Martin Leonard Burnham]. Once again, another husband of Mary Ann "vanishes". She filed for divorce 29 Aug 1867 from Daniel Horney citing "abandonment". She accompanied her daughter Elisabeth and son-in-law on their move to Oklahoma Territory about 1892. Henderson Chitwood died in 1893. Mary Ann lived with her daughter Elisabeth and family; she died on the Chitwood homestead and is buried in the family cemetery.
