Robert Clinton Johns, 67, Kirkland Road, Yulee, FL passed away Saturday, July 27, 2002, at his residence following a lengthy illness. A native of Winokur, Georgia, he was the son of the late Robert Bevel Johns & Gracie Nettles Johns, and had resided in Nassau County since 1987, when he relocated from Jacksonville.

Mr. Johns was a retired heavy equipment operator, and was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local in Jacksonville. He served with the U. S. Army National Guard and was a member of Hedges Baptist Church in Yulee. Mr. Johns was an avid classic car collector, and was a member of the Amelia Island Cruizers Classic Automobile Club. He currently owned a 1954 Cheverlet Bel Air automobile.

Survivors include: a special friend & mother of his children, Betty Joyce Moore, Jacksonville; his children, Douglas (Barbara) Johns, Yulee, Larry (Angie) Johns, Hilliard, Donna (Dennis) Johns, Fernandina Beach, Diana (Richard) Waters, Yulee, and Brenda Sue (David) Clemons, Jacksonville; a loving companion, Barbara Helbert, Jacksonville; three sisters, Muriel Scott, Melbourne, FL and Edith Kunkle & Loleita Watson, Jacksonville; twelve grandchildren, Teia, Ricky, Marcy, Heather, Travis, Anthony, Lonnie, Sabrina, Brian, Kyle, Britt & Clint; seven great- grandchildren, Michael, Kinzie, Samantha, Cheyenne, Devon, Dawson, & baby Andre; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Hedges Baptist Church in Yulee, with Reverend Mark Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in Batchlott Cemetery in Winokur, Georgia with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Tuesday evening at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home. Our father was the greatest man we ever knew. He is now in the arms of Jesus and knows a greater love.
