Anne M. Ashcraft, 88, of Colorado Springs passed away November 16, 2008.

She was the daughter of John and Huldah Urry of Larned, Kansas. She married Lawrence J. Ashcraft of Las Animas, Colorado on November 16, 1941 in Wichita, Kansas. She married Lawrence three weeks to the day after they met. They had 46 years together. Lawrence died May 24, 1988.

Mrs. Ashcraft enjoyed traveling and visiting many countries in Europe. She graduated from high school in 1938. In 1939, she graduated from cosmetology. She worked for an attorney in Wichita, Kansas before marrying.

Anne had retired from Colorado National Bank in 1982 where she had worked for 18 years. In 1994, she moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky, to be near a daughter there. She was a member of White's Chapel United Methodist Church in Drake, Kentucky. She attended Community Church of God in Colorado Springs before moving to Kentucky. She belonged to several clubs and organizations. She held memberships in the American Legion #23 in Bowling Green and Fraternal Order of Eagles in Colorado Springs for 50 plus years.

She is survived by two daughters, Joanne (Joe) Fields of Bowling Green and Kathryn (Galen) Helmick of Colorado Springs; two grandchildren, James and Jason Helmick of Colorado Springs and three great grandchildren, Summer Helmick of Louisville, Kentucky; Kyle and Amber Helmick of Colorado Springs. One son, Glenn L. Ashcraft preceded her in death.

After cremation, her ashes will be taken to Las Animas, Colorado, and placed next to her husband, Lawrence. Published in The Gazette on 1/4/2009
