Funeral services for James P. Austin, 89, were held 3:00 PM, Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Mangham Baptist Church, Mangham, with Rev. Rick Aultman officiating. Internment followed in Gwin Cemetery, Mangham, under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.

Mr. Austin was born on August 29, 1919 in Mangham, LA and passed away Thursday, December 18, in Monroe, LA.

James was a member of Mangham Baptist Church. He also was a pilot in World War II for the U.S. Army Air Force and a graduate of Northeast Louisiana College. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Helen Louise Austin; parents, Oscar and Maggie Austin; and brothers, Oscar Austin and Fred Austin.

He is survived by his children, Sandra Brundage and husband, Harrison of Houston, TX, Larry Austin and wife, Kay of Monroe; grandchildren, Ryan Austin and wife Carla of West Monroe, Jessica Austin of Monroe, Cheryl Brundage of Houston, TX, Darryl Brundage of Houston, TX; great grandson, Bram Sebio-Brundage of Houston, TX; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Frank Hendrix, Darryl Brundage, Ryan Austin, Paul Gandy, Doyle Robinson, and Clinton Smart.

Honorary pallbearers were Bill Bruce and Jim Bruce
