Wilmington — Funeral service will be held at the residence here Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock for James Preston Wheeler, 69, who died at a hospital early Friday after a brief illness.
He was an active member of the Gibson Avenue Baptist Church for 20 years and was assistant superintendent of its Sunday school.
Surviving are the widow, six daughters, Mrs. Holt Albright, Mrs. Marlin Cook and Misses Florine and Marx Wheeler, all of Wilmington, Mrs. Gerald Ormsby of Rocky Point and Miss Bertha Wheeler of Baltimore Md; a son, J. P. Wheeler Jr of Wilmington, and two sisters, Mrs. John Graham of Erwin and Mrs. James Smith of Fayetteville.
