Esther M. Goodman
Esther Marie Ahbadaush was born September 28, 1925 in Twin Lakes Township near Mahnomen, MN to Charles and Alice (Northup) Ahbedaush. She attended rural Mahnomen County Schools and the Indian School in Flandreau, SD. She lived in Minneapolis, MN prior to returning to the White Earth area. Esther was united in marriage to Joseph Goodman June 21, 1952 in Park Rapids, MN.. She worked for the Ah Gwah Ching Sanitorium at Walker, MN for a number of years. She also raised her grandchildren, Michelle Goodman Walker, Shy Basswood and Vanessa Goodman. Joe died in 1991.
Esther loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, playing Bingo, going to Pow Wows and garage sales. She was a member of Wisdom Steps.
Survivors include a daughter, Char Lee (Tony Ovaldson) of Mahnomen, MN, sons, Michael Goodman (Sharon Pappenfus) of Mahnomen, Joseph (Barb) Goodman Jr. of Hinkley, MN, 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great great grandson, a sister Susan Butcher of White Earth, MN. In addition to her husband, Joe, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Goodman Ovaldson, a son, Billy and a sister, Margaret Hanks.
