THE ARCADIAN NEWSPAPER, ARCADIA, FLORIDA; Sect 3
MRS. CLAUDIA KING;
Mrs. Claudia King, widow of Henry Logan King and a member of a prominent Florida family, died suddenly last Saturday night at her home on South Hillsborough Avenue. Mrs. King had been in ill health for a number of years, but her death last Saturday night was unexpected and cast a shadow of gloom over her hundreds of friends in this area.
She had just returned from a visit with her son Logan in Hillsborough County and was biding his family goodbye, when she was fatally striken.
Mrs King, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Carlton, was born May 6, 1890, in Nocatee and spent her entire lifetime in DeSoto County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and active for many years in its affairs, especially the music department as a vocalist and musician. Ill health forced her retirement from practically all activities several years ago.
Mrs. King is survived by a son, H. Logan King of Lutz; a daughter, Mrs. J.R. Casey of Tampa. Five grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services were conducted Tuesday morning from the Robarts Chapel with the Rev. J.J. Martin and the Rev. J.E.M. Massie officiating. Burial was in Joshua Creek Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were, Earl Carlton, Harvey Smith, John Dowd, Henry Bevis, Bob Holland and Travis Petrey.
Honorary pallbearers were Roy Mullihan, Carl Fish, Hugh Martin, Serman Marvel, Gerald Taylor, A.I. Roe, Sr., Willis Peacock, A.P. Hollingsworth, Henry Lanier, Dr. Gordon McSwain, and Dr. D.R. Gettinger.
