Mr Alford was a native of Columbia County and had lived in Mayo since 1973.He was retired from the U.S.Air Force after 20 years of service.He also worked 16 years for the Department of Corrections.
Mr Alford was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Mayo and the Mayo Masonic Lodge 119.He served as the Worshipful Master of the Masonic in 1993.Survivors include his wife,Effie Alford of Mayo;two daughters,Gwen Lord and Sylvia Badger,both of Mayo;a stepdaughter,Myrna Lee of White Springs;a son Randy Alford of Colorado;a stepson,Benjamin Folsum of Dumfries,Va;four sisters,Lessie Wheeler of Jacksonville,Fl Delmar Cobb of Middleburg,Fl Callie Register of Lake City and Zona Mae Heath of Leesburg;two brothers,Dan Alford of Fort White,Fl and Edgar Alford of Lake City,Fl;and 10 grandchildren.
