Visitation will be from 5 until 9 p.m. Monday at Chauvin Funeral Home and 8 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with burial at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dolores Pitre Cheramie; one son, Shane A. Cheramie and wife, Ray Ann, of Houma; one daughter, Selena Cheramie Shannon and husband, Casey, of Berwick; sister-in-law, Phyllis Pitre Zullo of Houston; grandchildren, Sarah Domangue Veillion and husband, Gregory, Rebecca Ann Domangue, Brady Timothy Shannon and Shane Julian Cheramie; and step-grandchildren, Jacob Micheal Broussard and John Micheal Broussard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian A. Cheramie and Bridgette Orgeron Cheramie; and two sisters, Bella Cheramie and Thelma Cheramie Bruce, of Cut Off.
He worked as a wireline operator in the oilfield.
Claude, better known at Popie, enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a very giving person and did anything for his family and friends.
