Della Elseth, 77, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at the Karlstad Nursing Home, Karlstad, MN.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, July 7, 2003 at Westaker Free Lutheran Church, Newfolden, MN, with Pastor Philip Rokke and Pastor Leroy Flickinger officiating.
Visitation will be 5 – 8 PM, Sunday, July 6, 2003, at Johnson Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls, MN and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Della (Roppe) Elseth was born October 1, 1925 at Strathcona, MN, the daughter of Ole and Inga (Rud) Roppe. She grew up in rural Strathcona and attended country school a mile from the family home.
On April 20, 1946, Della was united in marriage to Basil Manley Elseth. The couple made their home in Newfolden, MN, where they had dairy cattle and farmed all of their lives. Della also worked at Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls from 1968 to 1981. She later worked for Marshall County as a home health care aide up until her death.
Della enjoyed working on her five-acre yard. She enjoyed mowing, gardening, and watching the birds. She also was talented at lefse making and canning. One of her favorite past times was visiting with family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Donald of East Grand Forks, MN and Duane "Ben" (Melanie), of Newfolden and also Winnipeg, Manitoba; one grandson Ethan Elseth of Newfolden, two brothers: Norman (Mavis) Roppe, Strathcona, MN; Morris (Karen) Roppe, St. Francis, MN.
She was preceded in death by husband, Basil on March 12, 1991; her parents, brother Mervin Roppe, two sisters, Ida Newman and Laura Roppe, and one infant daughter Naomi.
