Francis/Frank was the youngest known child in his family (he had 9 other siblings).

In 1910, Frank was residing with his parents and siblings in Beekmantown, NY. He was age 14 and born in NY.

1925 Directory of NY city shows Francis as a Gateman and residing on 785 Columbus Avenue.

In the 1930 census of New York City, Frank and Nora were residing on 785 Columbus Avenue. Frank was age 34 born NY and Nora age 42 and born Ireland. Frank said he was married at age 21 (about 1917) and he was renting for $23 a month. His occupation at this time was a subway laborer. Also in household was his brother Joseph Beshaw and his family.

By 1940 Frank now age 43 b NY and Nora age 53 b Ireland were residing on West 97th Street in New York City. Nephew Henry Beshaw age 10 b Vermont also residing with them. Frank stated he was a Guard with the IRT Railway earning 1547. He had a 7th grade education and was renting their home for $30 a month.

Note:

Aunt Nora and Uncle Frank had no children [The son referenced in his obituary was, in fact, his nephew]. Uncle Frank was my grandmother's brother and he met and Married Aunt Nora (Hanora Murphy) in New York City. For many years they lived in South Hero Vermont on a small home town farm on the main road. (The house is still standing and was converted to a duplex).

It was brought to my attention that Aunt Nora and Uncle Frank are both buried in this Joyce lot. Because of further research, it appears that Catherine Joyce was Aunt Nora's sister. That would be a reason why both Uncle Frank and Aunt Nora are buried in this lot. (source: Catherine appears in the 1920 census residing with Uncle Frank and Aunt Nora and she is listed as born in Ireland and listed as sister in law to Frank).
