Born Wilmoth Alexander Farmer, he was a Methodist missionary to China. In 1904, he married Miss Martha Ada Beeson, another missionary. After the death or their baby and Ada, Wilmoth converted to Catholicism in 1915. He was a missionary in China from 1926 to 1949. He was at Loyola University from 1949 to 1966, when he celebrated his Jubilee as a priest. He was buried in Santa Clara, California.
