Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Hardy went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at Decatur General Hospital, and now is whole and well with eternal life. He was born March 14, 1924, in Tennessee to Hubert Hugh and Bessie Evelyn Hardy. He was a World War II veteran. He retired as a machine operator from Prestolite. He was a born-again Christian and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church where he served in the bus ministry in the past and as a Deacon for many years. Mr. Hardy was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Marie Kilgore Hardy; son, Gary Alan Hardy; two brothers, Gerald Hardy and Lloyd Hardy; and three sisters, Christine Hardy, Dorothy Tucker and Betty Hunter.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Edward Hardy and wife, Susie, and Kenneth Eugene Hardy, both of Huntsville, and Terry Wayne Hardy of Decatur; two daughters, Linda Diane Tate and husband, Jerry, of Arab and Marie Antoinette Austin and husband, Donald; 20 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Kenneth Hardy, Daniel Hardy, Dion White, Cliff Parker, Heather Harrison and Jerry Tate.
Honorary pallbearers are Gary Lovell, Gus Slater and Charlie Osborne.
