James Franklin married July 1809 to Patty Holmes 1775 - enlisted in Winchester, MA (later NH)1776 - marched to Ticonderoga, then to Mt Independance and after 2 months discharged in 1776 (file slo-710 national archives amd records service in Washington DC). Discharge papers were signed by Colonel Joshua Wingate and Captain William Humphrey. Returned to Winchester and stayed 24 years. Moved to Riga, Monroe, NY for 18 years when he moved to Leon, Cattaraugus, NY with his son James. Settled lot #50/#49, building a log cabin.
