Donated the land for the cemetery. Said to be buried there with his family but the stone is missing.

James Franklin was born in Attleboro, MA on Feb 1, 1750/1, son of Ichabod Franklin and Hannah Andrews. James Franklin married July 1809 to Patty Holmes 1775 - enlisted in Winchester, MA (later NH)1776 - marched to Ticonderoga, then to Mt Independance and after 2 months discharged in 1776 (file slo-710 national archives amd records service in Washington DC). Discharge papers were signed by Colonel Joshua Wingate and Captain William Humphrey. Returned to Winchester and stayed 24 years. Moved to Riga, Monroe, NY for 18 years when he moved to Leon, Cattaraugus, NY with his son James. Settled lot #50/#49, building a log cabin.
