Charles Leo Cecil, 83, Loretto, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at Springview Hospital, Lebanon. He was born April 23, 1925, in Marion County. He retired after 28 years with General Electric in Louisville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Mayola Mattingly Cecil; three infant daughters, Brenda Sue Cecil, Elizabeth Carol Cecil and Frances Darlene Cecil; and his parents, James Lawrence "Lonnie" and Catherine Elizabeth Thomas Cissell. Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Fenwick, Loretto; two sons, Larry Cecil, Lebanon, and Ronnie Cecil, Bluffton, S.C.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ester Mae Fix, Mesa, Ariz.; and two brothers, Bob Cecil and Doyle Cecil, both of Louisville.
The funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles Catholic Church, St. Mary, with burial in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, St. Francis. The Rev. Brian A. Kenney will be celebrant. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday at Mattingly Funeral Home including a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a vigil at 6 p.m. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Adam Cecil, Todd Cecil, Greg Cecil, Joe Pat Cecil, Steve Downs and Frankie Miles. Honorary pallbearers will be Cliff Daugherty, Nancy Daugherty, Kevin Miles, James Edward Thomas, Spencer Gootee, Allen Detherage, Junior Gootee, Billy Clement, Bill Daugherty, Lawrence Abell, Norbert Kipp, Jimmie Thomas, George Hayden, Bennie Hayden, Bobby Thomas and Ricky Newton.
