Robert Eli West. Pilot Officer, 54 Squadron, R.A.F. Son of Robert and Isobel West of Kingston Upon Thames. Born in South Stoneham, in Hampshire. Service no. 41508. From March 1939, 54 Squadron had the use of Spitfires. At the time of West's death they were engaged on patrolling the Kent coast, and were based at Hornchurch in Essex. Romford may be taken to be the place of registration of death, not the actual site.
