Haldiman
Geraldine R. Haldiman, 82, California, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at the California Care Center, California.
She was born Jan. 8, 1921, in California, daughter of Philip and Augusta Simmons Haldiman.
She was a 1938 graduate of California High School, received her bachelor of science degree from CMSC, Warrensburg, and her masters degree from Northwestern University. She was a well-known music teacher and adjudicator in central Missouri, beginning her teaching career in the Moniteau County schools. She was the director of vocal and instrumental music in the Eldon Public School system from 1944 until her retirement in 1978. She was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Department of Music at Central Missouri State University and the Outstanding Citizen Award from Eldon VFW. She was a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, Delta Kappa Gamma, Retired Teachers Association and PEO Chapter CH. She established the Eldon Friends of Music Society and was founder and director of the Eldon Community Chorus that joined with the high school choir for the performance of Handel's "Messiah." She was also director of the Eldon Methodist Church choir for 20 years.
Survivors include: one niece, Donna Haldiman Franklin, Independence; and two aunts, Crisella Moser, California, and Tillie Herfurth, Osage Beach. She was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Haldiman, and one niece, Judy Haldiman Green.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, with the Rev. Gary Schulte officiating. Burial will be in the California Evangelical Cemetery, California. Visitation will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.
