BRIGHAM CITY – Cookie Pekkanen returned to our Heavenly Father on Friday Dec. 19, 2008. Donna Rae was born March 25, 1942 to Alberta Parker and Malan Parker. As a young child, Donna's mother married Roy Valentine, who raised her in a family of love.
Cookie married her sweetheart of 21 years, Paul Pekkanen, on July 8, 1988. They had a fairy tale relationship; he was in the service and she went with him from Hill AFB to McCord AFB in Washington and back again to Utah where they have lived for the last 9 years.
Cookie had a creative talent for putting things together with her hands. She began "beading" while in her teens and continued to do this intricate art throughout her life. Besides her jewelry work, she also sewed, painted, did ceramics, and cooked. She was a tender nurturer to little puppies- her "babies". She loved her canine babies and they gave her much companionship. She loved fishing and camping in the Uintas. She worked as a Forest Ranger at the Bear River Ranger Station in her 20's.
Cookie loved to collect unique things. She was an avid collector of Boyd's Bear figurines, bears, and dolls. Her most treasured collection was her collection of friends. They will miss her greatly.
She is survived by her sister JoAnn Moore (Forest; Pocatello, ID), her sweetheart Paul Pekkanen and her 3 "babies" Jasmine, River, and Kaylee.
Friends may call on Friday, December 26, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City.
