"John Clevenger Dead"
"Uncle John" Clevenger, as he was familiarly called, died this morning at ten o'clock at the home of his son, John M. Clevenger, near Miltondale.
Deceased was the oldest citizen in Clay county, lacking only three years of reaching the century mark. He was born in Tennessee in 1818, and came to Missouri forty-five years ago.
He leaves three sons and one daughter, Abe Clevenger of this city, Barney Clevenger of Missouri City, J.M. Clevenger of near Miltondale, and Mrs. Lizzie Clevenger of Johnson county.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at old Union church, seven miles southeast of Excelsior Springs, conducted by Rev. Riggs, after which interment will be made in Old Union cemetery.

The funeral of the aged man, John Clevenger, who died yesterday, was largely attended by those who had long known the old man.
The services conducted by Rev. Riggs were impressive and fitting to the life of the deceased. Mr. Clevenger had long been a member of the Primitive Baptist church and at his request, his body was laid to rest in Old Union cemetery.
