Dorothy I. Armstrong, 90, of Marcellus, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday. Born in Marcellus, NY, on January 15, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Roy L. and Alice Thompson. She was married to Hugh R. Armstrong, who predeceased her in 1981. She graduated from Marcellus Central School and worked at Marcellus Red & White for over 30 years. Dorothy was a communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church in Marcellus and was a longtime member of the Altar Guild. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, birdwatching and baking. She also enjoyed time with her family, including her new great-granddaughter, Lila. She is survived by her daughters, Maryann and her husband, Frederick Horton of Shelburne, VT, and Carol Armstrong of Marcellus; granddaughter, Amy and her husband, Matthew McDonald of Philadelphia, PA; grandson, Andrew Horton of Shelburne, VT; great-granddaughter, Lila McDonald; sister, Sarah Hettinger, and brother, Roy L. Thompson, both of Marcellus; and many nieces and nephews. Service for Dorothy will be 7 p.m. Monday at Plis Funeral Home. Spring burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Marcellus. Friends may call on the family from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church in memory of Mrs. Armstrong.
